Vanita Kakar
Ms. Kakar worked for over 24 years with a premier Government of India Undertaking – the National Textile Corporation (Maharashtra North) as Head, Legal. After an illustrious stint and handling significant and high-stake matters for the Corporation, Ms. Kakar took voluntary retirement in 2004 to lead Kachwaha & Partners’ Mumbai team.
The National Textile Corporation (Maharashtra North) had 18 manufacturing units in Mumbai and Western India region. As Head, Legal, Ms. Kakar oversaw a portfolio of about 2000 legal matters covering a wide span of corporate, labour, employment, commercial, debt recovery, property, tenancy, contracts, banking and other civil matters. In addition, she conducted several internal enquiries/ disciplinary proceedings.

- Worked as Legal Assistant with Pure Ice cream Co. Ltd. – handled all major drafting assignments and company’s IP work.
- 1980 – 2004 – Worked with a premier Government of India Undertaking – the National Textile Corporation (Maharashtra North) as Head, Legal Department.
- 2004 – Took voluntary retirement from the National Textile Corporation to lead Kachwaha & Partners’ Mumbai team.
Professional Experience:
Ms. Kakar had a long stint – 24 years – with the National Textile Corporation. The Corporation had 18 textile manufacturing units in Mumbai and Western India region. As Head, Legal, she oversaw a portfolio of about 2000 matters covering a wide span of corporate, labour, employment, commercial, debt recovery, property, tenancy, contracts, banking and other civil matters. In addition, she has conducted several internal enquiries/ disciplinary proceedings. She also headed an in-house committee constituted by the Corporation to inquire into cases of sexual harassment at workplace.
